CIFFI is once again seeking egg harvest volunteers. Annually, in or around October the DFW decides when it is time to harvest kokanee eggs. Locations can be the Truckee River or Taylor Creek at Lake Tahoe or both. Volunteers are only given 1 to 2 days notice and the harvesting normally takes place during the weekdays.

If you would like to sign up to assist in the harvesting of eggs, please fill out the form below or contact the Egg Take coordinator, Ed Fisk, at 530-559-7175.  You will be called upon when we need assistance.

Thank you in advance for your continued support.

As you are aware, Eagle Lake is experiencing low water conditions; more so this year than in any other year.  Launching at Spalding Tract has been impossible for several years and fortunately good fishing has continued because of the accessibility of launching at the South End Marina.

California Inland Fisheries Foundation, Inc., (CIFFI), is a volunteer operated, tax deductible 501 C3 non-profit foundation, incorporated in the State of California, dedicated to the enhancement of freshwater angling opportunities.  The cooperative efforts between CIFFI and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and many partners, provide necessary funding to sustain multiple species of fish in California’s lakes and reservoirs.  Founded in 1992, CIFFI is a success story in cooperative fishery management, beginning with Project Kokanee, and now providing assistance to many other projects.
