Stacking the Odds to Stock California's Waters

The beginning of trout fishing season in Southern California is just around the corner, and CDFW biologists and hatchery staff are looking out for the many anglers who will cast lines in coming weeks by maximizing hatchery trout availability. Trout angling in lower-elevation waters of Southern California generally begins in November and continues through April, to correspond with colder water temperatures that can sustain stocked trout.  More Information

CDFW Expanding Lands Pass Program in 2017-18
CDFW is expanding its Lands Pass Program to 41 wildlife areas and ecological reserves this fall and winter and will soon require a CDFW lands pass of all visitors 16 or older. Those carrying a current hunting or fishing license are exempt from this new requirement. More Information
